What is the difference between transaction type "payment" and "sale"?

Hi Crystal - Each transaction will have two components -the sale and the payment. The "sale" happens when a form is submitted with a dollar amount associated - it's the agreement to pay. The "payment" occurs when the actual payment is applied. For example, if a member wants to pay immediately with a credit card, the sale and payment will occur at the same time. Alternatively, if a member chooses "Invoice Me" for their payment method and mails in a check, the sale will occur when the form is submitted, and the payment will occur when an Admin applies the check payment to the Open invoice. Hope that helps!

When I filter the transaction report, selecting Payment type of Credit Card or Credit Card Refund - why am I seeing transactions Check or Cash transactions on the screen as well?

Is it possible to search for profiles that have auto-renewal (recurring payment) setup?

Hello Brenda! If you pull an export of your membership, "Auto Renew" is an exportable piece of information that will be listed as either Off/On. I hope that helps!

I'm trying to run a report that just shows paid transactions with the payment method included and I can't figure out how to do it. If I filter on Transaction Status "Paid" I only get Transaction Types of "Sale" and it does not show the method of payment. If I filter on Transaction Type "Payment" I can see the payment method, but the Transaction Status is "Approved" and the only transactions showing are credit card sales. Every check payment only has a Sale transaction and the payment method is empty. I need to go to the individual profile to confirm that they paid by check.

How do I run a report that shows all paid transactions with the payment method included?

Hello Jean! I've opened up a Help ticket for you so they can investigate what Payment Method isn't showing up for you when you filter by "Payment". We'll be in touch!

Is it possible to tell if a payment was submitted by a member on the front end through their account, or by an admin on the back end on the member's behalf (ex: if they called to make a payment over the phone), and to filter the transactions accordingly?

Hello Emily! There isn't a differentiation between a member submitting their own payment or an admin processing it on the back-end, at this time. If that'd be helpful for you, please feel free to submit feedback for the idea

Hey there Judith! "Open" as a status means that the Invoice is still Unpaid. I hope that helps!
