Configuring Profile Owner Attribute Security
The table on the Profile Owner Attribute Security page includes columns that represent all Groups in your database, along with a full Attribute list on the left. When you navigate to this page, it will look similar to the screenshot below.
- The three icons represented here are the permissions that can be applied to an attribute. The green Can Edit icon means a group can see and edit an attribute. The blue Can View icon means the group can see the attribute's contents, but not make any changes to it. The red Hidden icon means that a user cannot see or edit an attribute, so they likely don't even know the attribute is present within their profile.
Using examples in our screenshot above, look at our first column, which represents the Prospect group. You'll see they have permission to see and edit the first two attributes in our list, which are the Primary Address Line 1 and 2 attributes, but they cannot see or edit the City attribute due to the Hidden permission being set for that attribute within their column.
If we look at our second column, the groups represented in that column can view, but not edit, the City attribute due to the Can View permission being applied to it. If you want to change this, click on the icon in question, and you will be given the option to change it. - If multiple Member Types possess the exact same security permissions, meaning that the users in the Drivers Member Type, for example, have the same permissions as those in the Hotels Member Type, then the system will automatically group them together in the same column. It does this so that you can change the permissions of multiple Member Types all at once without being forced to separately edit multiple columns. If, however, you do not want these Member Types to be grouped together, then click the 'Add New Column' button at the top of the page. This will allow you to give your Member Types their own individual column.
- If you need to make mass changes to a column, click the Change All button at the top of the column. This will allow you to change all of the attribute permissions at once.
- If you see N/A listed next to an attribute within a column, this means the attribute has not been assigned to the groups inside of that column. To assign the attribute to a Member Type, you must go to Database->Member Types->Choose to edit a Member Type. Once here, there is an Assign Attributes button. You can assign attributes to the Member Type here.
Once you've made any needed changes here, hit the save button in the upper right-hand corner of the page. If you do not hit the save button, your changes will not be saved.
